The Story

It was introduced on January 3, 2019 and referred to the Senate Health and Human Services committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 29, 2019. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2019-0383s). On February 14, 2019 the Senate adopted “Special Order to the Present Time, Without Objection”. The committee's amendment (2019-0383s) was adopted on a voice vote on February 14, 2019, changing the text of the bill. On February 14, 2019 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on March 14, 2019 and was referred to the House Health, Human Services and Elderly Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 27, 2019. The committee held a work session on May 16, 2019. The committee met in executive session on May 21, 2019 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted 18–2 to recommend that the House pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On June 5, 2019 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on June 13, 2019 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on July 10, 2019, making it Chapter 200 of the session laws.
