The Story
It was introduced on January 2, 2019 and referred to the House Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 24, 2019. The committee met in executive session on February 5, 2019 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 20–0, to recommend that the House pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On February 14, 2019 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 7, 2019 and was referred to the Senate Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on May 16, 2019. The committee voted unanimously, 5–0, to recommend that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2019-2204s), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (2019-2204s) was adopted on a voice vote on May 30, 2019, changing the text of the bill. On May 30, 2019 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On June 13, 2019 the House adopted “House Concurs with Senate Amendment 2204s” on a voice vote, on a motion by Rep. Goley. The bill was enrolled on June 27, 2019 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (2019-2650e) was adopted on a voice vote to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on August 16, 2019, making it Chapter 324 of the session laws.
