  • Term: 2017-2018
  • House committee: Commerce and Consumer Affairs
  • Senate committee: Commerce
  • Subject: Liquor and Beer

The Story

It was introduced on January 19, 2017 and referred to the Senate Commerce committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 21, 2017. The committee recommended that the Senate send it back to committee. On March 16, 2017 the Senate rejected a motion to send it back to committee on a voice vote. A floor amendment (2017-0895s), offered by Sen. Daniels, was adopted on a roll call 14–9 on March 16, 2017, changing the text of the bill. On March 16, 2017 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote, then referred it on to the Senate Finance committee. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On March 23, 2017 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on March 23, 2017 and was referred to the House Commerce and Consumer Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 25, 2017. The committee held a work session on May 16, 2017. The committee met in executive session on May 17, 2017 to vote on its recommendation. The committee retained the bill, holding it for further work rather than reporting it out this year. The committee held work sessions on September 5, 2017 and October 24, 2017. The committee met in executive session on October 31, 2017 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 13–0, to recommend that the House kill it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On January 3, 2018 the House voted to kill it on a voice vote.
