The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2017-0767s). The committee's amendment (2017-0767s) was adopted on a voice vote on March 16, 2017, changing the text of the bill. On March 16, 2017 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House and was referred to the House Children and Family Law committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 4, 2017. The committee met in executive session on April 11, 2017 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 14–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 2017-2518h), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (2017-2518h) was adopted on a voice vote on January 3, 2018, changing the text of the bill. On January 3, 2018 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. On January 18, 2018 the Senate voted to reject the other chamber's changes on a voice vote, on a motion by Sen. Sharon Carson. On April 26, 2018 the House adopted “House Accedes to Senate Request for CofC” on a voice vote, on a motion by Rep. Kimberly Rice. On May 23, 2018 the House adopted the conference report (1944c) on a voice vote. On May 23, 2018 the Senate adopted the conference report (2018-1944c) on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on May 23, 2018 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on June 25, 2018, making it Chapter 310 of the session laws.
