The Story

The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it with changes (amendment 2018-1671h) by a vote of 10–8, and the report was placed on the regular calendar. The committee's amendment (2018-1671h) was adopted on a voice vote on May 2, 2018, changing the text of the bill. On May 2, 2018 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. On May 10, 2018 the Senate voted to reject the other chamber's changes on a voice vote, on a motion by Sen. Sharon Carson. On May 10, 2018 the House adopted “House Accedes to Senate Request for CofC” on a voice vote, on a motion by Rep. McGuire. On May 23, 2018 the House adopted the conference report (2032c) on a voice vote. On May 23, 2018 the Senate adopted the conference report (2018-2032c) on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on May 23, 2018 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (2018-2113e) was adopted on a voice vote to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on July 2, 2018, making it Chapter 367 of the session laws. It took effect on August 31, 2018.
