On February 15, 2018 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on March 7, 2018 and was referred to the House Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 20, 2018. The committee held work sessions on March 27, 2018 and March 29, 2018. The committee met in executive session on April 3, 2018 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 15–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 2018-1272h), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (2018-1272h) was adopted on a voice vote on April 12, 2018, changing the text of the bill. On April 12, 2018 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. On May 23, 2018 the Senate adopted the conference report (2018-2033c) on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on May 23, 2018 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on June 25, 2018, making it Chapter 330 of the session laws. It took effect on July 1, 2018.
