The Story
It was introduced on January 3, 2018 and referred to the Senate Health and Human Services committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 24, 2018. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On February 1, 2018 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on March 7, 2018 and was referred to the House Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 28, 2018. The committee held a work session on April 3, 2018. The committee met in executive session on April 3, 2018 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted 15–3 to recommend that the House pass it, and the report was placed on the regular calendar. On April 19, 2018 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on May 3, 2018 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (2018-1801e) was adopted on a voice vote to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on May 30, 2018, making it Chapter 144 of the session laws. It took effect on July 29, 2018.
