The Story
It was introduced on January 3, 2018 and referred to the Senate Health and Human Services committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 13, 2018. The committee voted unanimously, 5–0, to recommend that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2018-0977s), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (2018-0977s) was adopted on a voice vote on March 8, 2018, changing the text of the bill. On March 8, 2018 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House and was referred to the House Health, Human Services and Elderly Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 3, 2018. The committee met in executive session on April 17, 2018 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 22–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 2018-1351h), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (2018-1351h) was adopted on a voice vote on April 26, 2018, changing the text of the bill. On April 26, 2018 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. On May 2, 2018 the Senate voted to agree to the other chamber's changes on a voice vote, on a motion by Sen. Bradley. The bill was enrolled on May 10, 2018 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (2018-1963e) was adopted on a voice vote to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on June 12, 2018, making it Chapter 260 of the session laws.
