The Story

It was introduced on January 3, 2018 and referred to the Senate Health and Human Services committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 24, 2018. On February 1, 2018 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on March 7, 2018 and was referred to the House Health, Human Services and Elderly Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 27, 2018. The committee met in executive session on March 27, 2018 to vote on its recommendation. The minority of the committee recommended that the House kill it. The bill was enrolled on May 10, 2018 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (2018-1935e) was adopted on a voice vote to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on June 8, 2018, making it Chapter 228 of the session laws. It took effect on August 7, 2018.
