  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 2017-2018
  • House committee: Public Works and Highways
  • Senate committee: Finance
  • Subject: Transportation and Highways
  • Chapter law: 139

The Story

It was introduced on January 3, 2018 and referred to the Senate Finance committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 9, 2018. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2018-0081s). The committee's amendment (2018-0081s) was adopted on a voice vote on January 18, 2018, changing the text of the bill. On January 18, 2018 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on March 7, 2018 and was referred to the House Public Works and Highways committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 28, 2018. The committee met in executive session on March 28, 2018 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 13–0, to recommend that the House pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On April 5, 2018 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on April 26, 2018 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (2018-1460e) was adopted on a voice vote to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on May 30, 2018, making it Chapter 139 of the session laws. It took effect on July 29, 2018.
