The Story

It was introduced on January 3, 2018 and referred to the Senate Transportation committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 16, 2018. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On February 1, 2018 the Senate adopted “Special Order to the beginning of the calendar, Without Objection”. On February 1, 2018 the Senate voted to pass it. On February 1, 2018 the Senate adopted “Reconsideration on Ought to Pass” on a voice vote, on a motion by Sen. Bradley. On February 1, 2018 the Senate voted to pass it and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on March 7, 2018 and was referred to the House Public Works and Highways committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 27, 2018. The committee met in executive session on March 27, 2018 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 14–0, to recommend that the House pass it, and the report was placed on the regular calendar. On April 5, 2018 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on April 12, 2018 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on April 20, 2018, making it Chapter 14 of the session laws. It took effect on April 20, 2018.
