The Story

It was introduced on January 19, 2017 and referred to the Senate Health and Human Services committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 7, 2017. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2017-0502s). The committee's amendment (2017-0502s) was adopted on a voice vote on February 23, 2017, changing the text of the bill. On February 23, 2017 the Senate voted to pass it with changes and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House and was referred to the House Health, Human Services and Elderly Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 21, 2017. The committee met in executive session on March 22, 2017 and March 28, 2017. The committee retained the bill, holding it for further work rather than reporting it out this year. The committee held a work session on August 30, 2017. The committee met in executive session on October 26, 2017 to vote on its recommendation. The minority of the committee recommended that the House pass it with changes (amendment 2017-1158h). The majority of the committee recommended that the House kill it by a vote of 12–8, and the report was placed on the regular calendar. On January 9, 2018 the House failed “Special Order to next order of business” on a division vote 148–158, on a motion by Rep. Lisle. On January 9, 2018 the House voted to kill it on a roll call 170–169.
