The Story

On March 23, 2017 the Senate voted to pass it with changes and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on March 23, 2017 and was referred to the House Ways and Means committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 12, 2017. The committee met in executive session on April 20, 2017 to vote on its recommendation. The committee retained the bill, holding it for further work rather than reporting it out this year. The committee held work sessions on September 19, 2017, September 27, 2017, October 12, 2017 and October 17, 2017. The committee met in executive session on October 25, 2017 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 23–0, to recommend that the House study it after the session ends, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On February 8, 2018 the House voted to study it after the session ends on a voice vote. The committee held a work session on September 20, 2018. The committee met in executive session on October 10, 2018 to vote on its recommendation. The committee reported back on its interim study of the bill: “Not Recommended for Future Legislation”, by a vote of 18 to 1.
