The Story

On March 23, 2017 the Senate voted to lay it on the table on a voice vote, on a motion by Sen. Bradley. On March 30, 2017 the Senate adopted “Remove From Table” on a voice vote, on a motion by Sen. Bradley. The committee's amendment (2017-1013s) was adopted on a roll call 14–8 on March 30, 2017, changing the text of the bill. On March 30, 2017 the Senate voted to pass it with changes and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House and was referred to the House Ways and Means committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 12, 2017. The committee met in executive session on April 20, 2017 to vote on its recommendation. The committee retained the bill, holding it for further work rather than reporting it out this year. The committee held a work session on September 19, 2017. The committee met in executive session on October 25, 2017 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 23–0, to recommend that the House kill it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On January 3, 2018 the House voted to kill it on a voice vote.
