The Story

It was introduced on January 19, 2017 and referred to the Senate Public and Municipal Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 8, 2017. The committee voted unanimously, 5–0, to recommend that the Senate send it back to committee, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On February 23, 2017 the Senate voted to send it back to committee on a voice vote. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2017-2529s). The committee's amendment (2017-2529s) was adopted on a voice vote on January 3, 2018, changing the text of the bill. On January 3, 2018 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on March 7, 2018 and was referred to the House Resources, Recreation and Development committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 20, 2018. The committee held a work session on April 17, 2018. The committee met in executive session on April 17, 2018 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 19–0, to recommend that the House pass it, and the report was placed on the regular calendar. On April 26, 2018 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on May 3, 2018 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on May 30, 2018, making it Chapter 119 of the session laws. It took effect on July 29, 2018.
