  • House committee: Transportation
  • Senate committee: Transportation

The Story

It was introduced on January 5, 2017 and referred to the House Transportation committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 22, 2017. The committee met in executive session on March 1, 2017 to vote on its recommendation. The committee retained the bill, holding it for further work rather than reporting it out this year. The committee held work sessions on May 17, 2017, August 24, 2017, September 14, 2017 and September 27, 2017. The committee met in executive session on October 18, 2017 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 15–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 2017-2430h), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (2017-2430h) was adopted on a voice vote on January 3, 2018, changing the text of the bill. On January 3, 2018 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on February 1, 2018 and was referred to the Senate Transportation committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 20, 2018. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On April 5, 2018 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. The bill was enrolled on April 19, 2018 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on May 15, 2018, making it Chapter 20 of the session laws.
