relative to free speech on campuses in the university system and the community college system.

  • Status: Died on the table
  • Term: 2017-2018
  • House committee: Education
  • Subject: Education - Finance

The Story

It was introduced on January 5, 2017 and referred to the House Education committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 24, 2017. The committee met in executive session on February 8, 2017 and February 22, 2017. The committee retained the bill, holding it for further work rather than reporting it out this year. The committee held work sessions on May 16, 2017 and September 12, 2017. The committee met in executive session on November 8, 2017 to vote on its recommendation. The minority of the committee recommended that the House kill it. The majority of the committee recommended that the House study it after the session ends by a vote of 10–9, and the report was placed on the regular calendar. On January 3, 2018 the House adopted “Lay HB 477 on Table” on a voice vote, on a motion by Rep. T. Wolf.
