HB 267 (2018)

establishing the New Hampshire transportation council.

  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 2017-2018
  • House committee: Transportation
  • Senate committee: Transportation
  • Subject: Transportation and Highways
  • Chapter law: 291

The Story

It was introduced on January 4, 2017 and referred to the House Transportation committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 25, 2017. The committee met in executive session on February 8, 2017 and February 21, 2017. The committee retained the bill, holding it for further work rather than reporting it out this year. The committee held work sessions on May 17, 2017, August 22, 2017, September 5, 2017 and September 26, 2017. The committee met in executive session on October 18, 2017 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 15–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 2017-2404h), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (2017-2404h) was adopted on a voice vote on January 3, 2018, changing the text of the bill. On January 3, 2018 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on February 1, 2018 and was referred to the Senate Transportation committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 6, 2018. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2018-1615s). The committee's amendment (2018-1615s) was adopted on a voice vote on April 26, 2018, changing the text of the bill. On April 26, 2018 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On May 10, 2018 the House adopted “House Concurs with Senate Amendment 1615s” on a voice vote, on a motion by Rep. Steven Smith. The bill was enrolled on May 23, 2018 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (2018-2092e) was adopted on a voice vote to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on June 25, 2018, making it Chapter 291 of the session laws.
