HB 249 (2018)
relative to showing a ballot.
- Status: Died on the table
- Term: 2017-2018
- House committee: Election Law
- Subject: Elections
The Story
It was introduced on January 4, 2017 and referred to the House Election Law committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 10, 2017. The committee met in executive session on February 14, 2017 to vote on its recommendation. The committee retained the bill, holding it for further work rather than reporting it out this year. The committee met in executive session on October 19, 2017 and November 9, 2017. The minority of the committee recommended that the House kill it. The majority of the committee recommended that the House study it after the session ends by a vote of 12–8, and the report was placed on the regular calendar. On January 3, 2018 the House rejected a motion to study it after the session ends on a roll call 167–184. On January 3, 2018 the House adopted “Lay HB 249 on Table” on a roll call 202–150, on a motion by Rep. Shurtleff.
