The Story

It was introduced on January 3, 2018 and referred to the House Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 10, 2018. The committee met in executive session on January 30, 2018 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted 19–1 to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 2018-0085h), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (2018-0085h) was adopted on a voice vote on February 22, 2018, changing the text of the bill. On February 22, 2018 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 8, 2018 and was referred to the Senate Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 11, 2018. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2018-1468s). The committee's amendment (2018-1468s) was adopted on a voice vote on April 19, 2018, changing the text of the bill. On April 19, 2018 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On April 26, 2018 the House adopted “House Concurs with Senate Amendment 1468s” on a voice vote, on a motion by Rep. McGuire. The bill was enrolled on May 10, 2018 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (2018-1860e) was adopted on a voice vote to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on June 8, 2018, making it Chapter 200 of the session laws.
