The Story
It was introduced on January 3, 2018 and referred to the House Transportation committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 10, 2018. The committee met in executive session on January 23, 2018 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 15–0, to recommend that the House pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On February 8, 2018 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on February 15, 2018 and was referred to the Senate Transportation committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 6, 2018. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2018-1163s). The committee's amendment (2018-1163s) was adopted on a voice vote on April 5, 2018, changing the text of the bill. On April 5, 2018 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On April 19, 2018 the House adopted “House Concurs with Senate Amendment 1163s” on a voice vote, on a motion by Rep. Steven Smith. The bill was enrolled on April 26, 2018 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on May 25, 2018, making it Chapter 84 of the session laws.
