HB 1593 (2018)

authorizing a school district meeting to adopt an article authorizing the trustees of the trust fund to charge certain expenses against capital reserve funds.

  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 2017-2018
  • House committee: Education
  • Senate committee: Public and Municipal Affairs
  • Subject: Education - General
  • Chapter law: 191

The Story

It was introduced on January 3, 2018 and referred to the House Education committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 17, 2018. The committee met in executive session on January 25, 2018 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 20–0, to recommend that the House pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On February 8, 2018 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. On February 8, 2018 the bill was referred to the Municipal and County Government committee, whose chair waived the referral under House Rule 46(f). It crossed to the Senate on March 8, 2018 and was referred to the Senate Public and Municipal Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 4, 2018. The committee voted unanimously, 5–0, to recommend that the Senate pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On April 12, 2018 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. The bill was enrolled on May 3, 2018 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (2018-1653e) was adopted on a voice vote to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on June 8, 2018, making it Chapter 191 of the session laws.
