It crossed to the Senate on March 8, 2018 and was referred to the Senate Health and Human Services committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 10, 2018. The committee voted unanimously, 5–0, to recommend that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2018-1465s), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. Sanborn, was adopted on a voice vote on May 3, 2018, changing the text of the bill. On May 3, 2018 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On May 10, 2018 the House adopted “House Non-Concurs with Senate Amendment 1465s and 1869s and Requests CofC” on a voice vote, on a motion by Rep. McGuire. A committee of conference met on May 14, 2018 and May 16, 2018 to try to settle the differences between the two chambers' versions of the bill. On May 23, 2018 the Senate adopted the conference report (2018-2038c) on a voice vote. On May 23, 2018 the House adopted the conference report (2038c) on a voice vote.
