The Story

The committee held a work session on January 24, 2018. The committee met in executive session on January 24, 2018 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 23–0, to recommend that the House pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On February 8, 2018 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on February 15, 2018 and was referred to the Senate Ways and Means committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 14, 2018. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2018-1622s). On April 26, 2018 the Senate adopted “Special Order to 05/02/2018, Without Objection”. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2018-1622s). The committee's amendment (2018-1622s) was rejected on a voice vote on May 2, 2018. On May 2, 2018 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. The bill was enrolled on May 10, 2018 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (2018-1948e) was adopted on a voice vote to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on June 8, 2018, making it Chapter 171 of the session laws.
