The Story

The minority of the committee recommended that the House kill it. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it with changes (amendment 2018-0236h) by a vote of 7–6, and the report was placed on the regular calendar. The committee's amendment (2018-0236h) was adopted on a voice vote on March 6, 2018, changing the text of the bill. On March 6, 2018 the House failed “Lay HB 1233 on Table” on a roll call 129–164, on a motion by Rep. Peter Bixby. On March 6, 2018 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 8, 2018 and was referred to the Senate Energy and Natural Resources committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 24, 2018. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On May 2, 2018 the Senate adopted “Special Order to 05/03/2018, Without Objection”. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On May 3, 2018 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. The bill was enrolled on May 10, 2018 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on June 8, 2018, making it Chapter 169 of the session laws.
