The Story

It was introduced on January 5, 2017 and referred to the Senate Ways and Means committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 25, 2017. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On March 30, 2017 the Senate voted to pass it and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House and was referred to the House Ways and Means committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 26, 2017. The committee held a work session on May 9, 2017. The committee met in executive session on May 17, 2017 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 22–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 2017-1645h), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (2017-1645h) was adopted on a voice vote on June 1, 2017, changing the text of the bill. On June 1, 2017 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. On June 8, 2017 the Senate voted to reject the other chamber's changes on a voice vote, on a motion by Sen. Sanborn. On June 8, 2017 the House adopted “House Accedes to Senate Request for CofC” on a voice vote, on a motion by Rep. Sherman Packard. On June 22, 2017 the House adopted the conference report (2344c) on a voice vote. On June 22, 2017 the Senate adopted the conference report (2017-2344c) on a voice vote. It took effect on September 16, 2017.
