  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 2017-2018
  • House committee: Resources, Recreation and Development
  • Senate committee: Energy and Natural Resources
  • Subject: Environment - Conservation
  • Chapter law: 211

The Story

It was introduced on January 19, 2017 and referred to the Senate Energy and Natural Resources committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 2, 2017. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2017-0277s). The committee's amendment (2017-0277s) was adopted on a voice vote on February 9, 2017, changing the text of the bill. On February 9, 2017 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on February 16, 2017 and was referred to the House Resources, Recreation and Development committee. The committee held work sessions on March 29, 2017 and May 2, 2017. The committee met in executive session on May 2, 2017 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 18–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 2017-1089h), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (2017-1089h) was adopted on a voice vote on June 1, 2017, changing the text of the bill. On June 1, 2017 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. On June 8, 2017 the Senate voted to agree to the other chamber's changes on a voice vote, on a motion by Sen. Kevin Avard. The bill was enrolled on June 22, 2017 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (2017-2348e) was adopted on a voice vote to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on July 10, 2017, making it Chapter 211 of the session laws. It took effect on September 8, 2017.
