  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 2017-2018
  • House committee: Legislative Administration
  • Senate committee: Election Law and Internal Affairs
  • Subject: Miscellaneous
  • Chapter law: 174

The Story

It was introduced on January 19, 2017 and referred to the Senate Election Law and Internal Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 7, 2017. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2017-1051s). The committee's amendment (2017-1051s) was adopted on a voice vote on March 29, 2017, changing the text of the bill. On March 29, 2017 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House and was referred to the House Legislative Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 25, 2017. The committee met in executive session on May 17, 2017 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 14–0, to recommend that the House pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On June 1, 2017 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on June 8, 2017 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on June 28, 2017, making it Chapter 174 of the session laws. It took effect on June 28, 2017.
