  • Senate committee: Executive Departments and Administration

  • Chapter law: 192

The Story

It was introduced on January 5, 2017 and referred to the House Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 14, 2017. The committee held work sessions on February 23, 2017 and February 28, 2017. The committee met in executive session on March 1, 2017 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 20–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 2017-0666h), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (2017-0666h) was adopted on a voice vote on March 8, 2017, changing the text of the bill. On March 8, 2017 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 9, 2017 and was referred to the Senate Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 22, 2017. The committee voted unanimously, 5–0, to recommend that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2017-1315s), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (2017-1315s) was adopted on a voice vote on April 20, 2017, changing the text of the bill. On April 20, 2017 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On May 18, 2017 the House adopted “House Concurs with Senate Amendment 1315s” on a voice vote, on a motion by Rep. McGuire. An enrolled bill amendment (2017-2086e) was adopted on a voice vote on May 31, 2017. These correct technical errors found after passage. The bill was enrolled on June 8, 2017 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (2017-2086e) was adopted on a voice vote to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on June 30, 2017, making it Chapter 192 of the session laws.
