HB 536 (2017)

directing the wellness and primary prevention council to establish a system of family resource centers of quality.

  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 2017-2018
  • House committee: Health, Human Services and Elderly Affairs
  • Senate committee: Health and Human Services
  • Subject: Miscellaneous
  • Chapter law: 167

The Story

It was introduced on January 5, 2017 and referred to the House Health, Human Services and Elderly Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 1, 2017. The committee met in executive session on February 28, 2017 to vote on its recommendation. The minority of the committee recommended that the House kill it. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it by a vote of 10–9, and the report was placed on the regular calendar. On March 9, 2017 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 9, 2017 and was referred to the Senate Health and Human Services committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 28, 2017. The committee voted unanimously, 5–0, to recommend that the Senate pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On May 18, 2017 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. An enrolled bill amendment (2017-2031e) was adopted on a voice vote on May 31, 2017. These correct technical errors found after passage. The bill was enrolled on June 8, 2017 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (2017-2031e) was adopted on a voice vote to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on June 28, 2017, making it Chapter 167 of the session laws.
