The Story

It was introduced on January 5, 2017 and referred to the House Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 25, 2017. The committee met in executive session on February 8, 2017 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 19–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 2017-0379h), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (2017-0379h) was adopted on a voice vote on February 15, 2017, changing the text of the bill. On February 15, 2017 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on February 16, 2017 and was referred to the Senate Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 19, 2017. The committee voted unanimously, 5–0, to recommend that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2017-1458s), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (2017-1458s) was adopted on a voice vote on April 27, 2017, changing the text of the bill. On April 27, 2017 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On May 18, 2017 the House adopted “House Concurs with Senate Amendment 1458s” on a voice vote, on a motion by Rep. McGuire. An enrolled bill amendment (2017-2029e) was adopted on a voice vote on May 31, 2017. These correct technical errors found after passage. The bill was enrolled on June 8, 2017 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (2017-2029e) was adopted on a voice vote to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on June 30, 2017, making it Chapter 193 of the session laws.
