The committee voted unanimously, 17–0, to recommend that the House pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On February 2, 2017 the House failed “Recommit” on a roll call 80–280, on a motion by Rep. Hoell. On February 2, 2017 the House voted to pass it on a roll call 316–43. It crossed to the Senate on February 16, 2017 and was referred to the Senate Election Law and Internal Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 21, 2017. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2017-1435s). On June 8, 2017 the Senate adopted “Accedes to House Request for Committee of Conference” on a voice vote, on a motion by Sen. Regina Birdsell. A committee of conference met on June 12, 2017 to try to settle the differences between the two chambers' versions of the bill. On June 22, 2017 the Senate adopted the conference report (2017-2255c) on a voice vote. On June 22, 2017 the House adopted the conference report (2255c) on a voice vote.
