HB 246 (2017)

relative to timber trespass.

  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 2017-2018
  • House committee: Resources, Recreation and Development
  • Senate committee: Energy and Natural Resources
  • Subject: Miscellaneous
  • Chapter law: 164

The Story

It was introduced on January 4, 2017 and referred to the House Resources, Recreation and Development committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 18, 2017. The committee met in executive session on January 24, 2017 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 17–0, to recommend that the House pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On February 9, 2017 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on February 16, 2017 and was referred to the Senate Energy and Natural Resources committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 28, 2017. The committee voted unanimously, 5–0, to recommend that the Senate pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On May 18, 2017 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. An enrolled bill amendment (2017-2034e) was adopted on a voice vote on May 31, 2017. These correct technical errors found after passage. The bill was enrolled on June 8, 2017 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (2017-2034e) was adopted on a voice vote to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on June 28, 2017, making it Chapter 164 of the session laws.
