HB 210 (2017)

relative to a code of ethics for certified educational personnel.

  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 2017-2018
  • House committee: Education
  • Senate committee: Education
  • Subject: Education - General
  • Chapter law: 22

The Story

It was introduced on January 4, 2017 and referred to the House Education committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 11, 2017. The committee met in executive session on January 18, 2017, February 14, 2017 and February 22, 2017. The committee voted unanimously, 19–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 2017-0559h), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (2017-0559h) was adopted on a voice vote on March 8, 2017, changing the text of the bill. On March 8, 2017 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 9, 2017 and was referred to the Senate Education committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 21, 2017. The committee voted unanimously, 5–0, to recommend that the Senate pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On March 29, 2017 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. The bill was enrolled on April 6, 2017 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (2017-1308e) was adopted on a voice vote to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on April 25, 2017, making it Chapter 22 of the session laws.
