SB 67 (2016)

establishing a commission to study opioid misuse in New Hampshire.

  • Status: Killed
  • Term: 2015-2016
  • House committee: Health, Human Services and Elderly Affairs
  • Senate committee: Health and Human Services
  • Subject: Study Committees and Commissions

The Story

It was introduced on January 8, 2015 and referred to the Senate Health and Human Services committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 20, 2015. The committee recommended that the Senate send it back to committee. On February 12, 2015 the Senate adopted “Special Order SB 67 to 2/19/15, Without Objection”. The committee recommended that the Senate send it back to committee. On February 19, 2015 the Senate voted to lay it on the table on a voice vote, on a motion by Sen. Sanborn. On March 19, 2015 the Senate adopted “Remove From Table” on a voice vote, on a motion by Sen. Bradley. On March 19, 2015 the Senate rejected a motion to send it back to committee on a voice vote. A floor amendment (2015-1034s), offered by Sen. Sharon Carson, was adopted on a voice vote on March 19, 2015, changing the text of the bill. On March 19, 2015 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House and was referred to the House Health, Human Services and Elderly Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 31, 2015. The committee met in executive session on April 7, 2015 to vote on its recommendation. The committee retained the bill, holding it for further work rather than reporting it out this year. The committee held work sessions on May 19, 2015, September 17, 2015 and November 5, 2015. The committee met in executive session on November 5, 2015 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 13–0, to recommend that the House kill it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On January 6, 2016 the House voted to kill it on a voice vote.
