SB 447-FN (2016)

establishing a commission to study Narcan.

  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 2015-2016
  • House committee: Criminal Justice and Public Safety
  • Senate committee: Judiciary
  • Subject: Study Committees and Commissions
  • Chapter law: 1

The Story

It was introduced on January 6, 2016 and referred to the Senate Judiciary committee. It crossed to the House on January 7, 2016 and was referred to the House Criminal Justice and Public Safety committee. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2016-0049s). The committee's amendment (0049s) was adopted on a voice vote on January 14, 2016, changing the text of the bill. On January 14, 2016 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. The committee met in executive session on January 15, 2016 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 14–0, to recommend that the House pass it, and the report was placed on the regular calendar. On January 20, 2016 the House voted to pass it on a division vote 275–71. The bill was enrolled on January 20, 2016 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on January 21, 2016, making it Chapter 1 of the session laws.
