SB 431 (2016)

relative to data submission by insurers.

  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 2015-2016
  • House committee: Commerce and Consumer Affairs
  • Senate committee: Health and Human Services
  • Subject: Insurance
  • Chapter law: 250

The Story

It was introduced on January 6, 2016 and referred to the Senate Health and Human Services committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 8, 2016. The committee recommended that the Senate study it after the session ends. On March 24, 2016 the Senate failed “Refer to Interim Study” on a voice vote. A floor amendment (2016-1156s), offered by Sen. Stiles, was adopted on a voice vote on March 24, 2016, changing the text of the bill. On March 24, 2016 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House and was referred to the House Commerce and Consumer Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 14, 2016. The committee held work sessions on April 19, 2016 and April 26, 2016. The committee met in executive session on April 26, 2016 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted 18–1 to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 2016-1583h), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (2016-1583h) was adopted on a voice vote on May 11, 2016, changing the text of the bill. On May 11, 2016 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. On May 19, 2016 the Senate voted to agree to the other chamber's changes on a voice vote, on a motion by Sen. Sanborn. The bill was enrolled on June 1, 2016 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on June 10, 2016, making it Chapter 250 of the session laws. It took effect on June 10, 2016.
