SB 383 (2016)

establishing a commission to study and recommend improvements to the New Hampshire hiking trails network.

  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 2015-2016
  • House committee: Resources, Recreation and Development
  • Senate committee: Energy and Natural Resources
  • Subject: Study Committees and Commissions
  • Chapter law: 268

The Story

It was introduced on January 6, 2016 and referred to the Senate Energy and Natural Resources committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 10, 2016. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2016-0867s). The committee's amendment (0867s) was adopted on a voice vote on March 10, 2016, changing the text of the bill. On March 10, 2016 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on March 10, 2016 and was referred to the House Resources, Recreation and Development committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 30, 2016. The committee held work sessions on April 12, 2016 and April 19, 2016. The committee met in executive session on April 26, 2016 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 16–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 2016-1526h), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (2016-1526h) was adopted on a voice vote on May 11, 2016, changing the text of the bill. On May 11, 2016 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. On May 19, 2016 the Senate voted to agree to the other chamber's changes on a voice vote, on a motion by Sen. Bradley. The bill was enrolled on June 1, 2016 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (2016-2111e) was adopted on a voice vote to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on June 16, 2016, making it Chapter 268 of the session laws.
