The Story

The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2016-0395s). The committee's amendment (0395s) was adopted on a voice vote on February 11, 2016, changing the text of the bill. On February 11, 2016 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote, then referred it on to the Senate Finance committee. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2016-1061s). The committee's amendment (1061s) was adopted on a voice vote on March 24, 2016, changing the text of the bill. On March 24, 2016 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House and was referred to the House Fish and Game and Marine Resources committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 14, 2016. The committee met in executive session on April 21, 2016 to vote on its recommendation. The minority of the committee recommended that the House kill it. The majority of the committee recommended that the House pass it by a vote of 11–5, and the report was placed on the regular calendar. On May 11, 2016 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. The bill was enrolled on June 1, 2016 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (2016-1996e) was adopted on a voice vote to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on June 10, 2016, making it Chapter 243 of the session laws. It took effect on August 9, 2016.
