  • Term: 2015-2016
  • House committee: Executive Departments and Administration
  • Senate committee: Executive Departments and Administration
  • Subject: Occupational Regulation
  • Chapter law: 238

The Story

It was introduced on January 6, 2016 and referred to the Senate Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 10, 2016. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. A floor amendment (2016-0618s), offered by Sen. Reagan, was adopted on a voice vote on February 18, 2016, changing the text of the bill. On February 18, 2016 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on March 10, 2016 and was referred to the House Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 22, 2016. The committee met in executive session on March 29, 2016 and April 26, 2016. The committee voted unanimously, 15–0, to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 2016-1242h), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (2016-1242h) was adopted on a voice vote on May 11, 2016, changing the text of the bill. On May 11, 2016 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. On May 19, 2016 the Senate voted to agree to the other chamber's changes on a voice vote, on a motion by Sen. Sharon Carson. The bill was enrolled on June 1, 2016 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on June 10, 2016, making it Chapter 238 of the session laws.
