SB 127-FN (2016)

relative to the appointment of special Medicaid representatives.

  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 2015-2016
  • House committee: Health, Human Services and Elderly Affairs
  • Senate committee: Health and Human Services
  • Subject: Welfare/Medicare/Medicaid
  • Chapter law: 265

The Story

It was introduced on January 29, 2015 and referred to the Senate Health and Human Services committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 10, 2015. The committee recommended that the Senate send it back to committee. On March 12, 2015 the Senate voted to send it back to committee on a voice vote. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2016-0236s). The committee's amendment (0236s) was adopted on a voice vote on February 4, 2016, changing the text of the bill. On February 4, 2016 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House on February 11, 2016 and was referred to the House Health, Human Services and Elderly Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 15, 2016. The committee held work sessions on March 22, 2016, March 29, 2016, April 5, 2016 and April 12, 2016. The committee met in executive session on April 13, 2016 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted 17–2 to recommend that the House pass it with changes (amendment 2016-1367h), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (2016-1367h) was adopted on a voice vote on May 11, 2016, changing the text of the bill. On May 11, 2016 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. On May 19, 2016 the Senate voted to agree to the other chamber's changes on a voice vote, on a motion by Sen. Sanborn. The bill was enrolled on June 1, 2016 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (2016-2123e) was adopted on a voice vote to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on June 16, 2016, making it Chapter 265 of the session laws.
