HB 351 (2016)

exempting historically significant vehicles from emission control requirements.

  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 2015-2016
  • House committee: Transportation
  • Senate committee: Transportation
  • Subject: Motor Vehicles
  • Chapter law: 35

The Story

It was introduced on January 8, 2015 and referred to the House Transportation committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 17, 2015. The committee met in executive session on March 3, 2015 to vote on its recommendation. The committee retained the bill, holding it for further work rather than reporting it out this year. The committee met in executive session on October 20, 2015 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 11–0, to recommend that the House pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On January 6, 2016 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on February 18, 2016 and was referred to the Senate Transportation committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 15, 2016. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. A floor amendment (2016-1087s), offered by Sen. Daniels, was adopted on a voice vote on March 24, 2016, changing the text of the bill. On March 24, 2016 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On April 6, 2016 the House adopted “House Concurs with Senate Amendment 1087s” on a voice vote, on a motion by Rep. Steven Smith. The bill was enrolled on April 21, 2016 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on May 3, 2016, making it Chapter 35 of the session laws.
