relative to voter registration forms.
- Status: Referred for interim study
- Term: 2015-2016
- House committee: Election Law
- Senate committee: Public and Municipal Affairs
- Subject: Elections
The Story
It was introduced on January 8, 2015 and referred to the House Election Law committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 20, 2015. The committee met in executive session on January 28, 2015 to vote on its recommendation. The committee retained the bill, holding it for further work rather than reporting it out this year. The committee held work sessions on September 10, 2015 and October 20, 2015. The committee met in executive session on October 20, 2015 to vote on its recommendation. The majority recommended that the House pass it, and the minority recommended that the House kill it, by a vote of 13–6. The report was placed on the regular calendar. On January 6, 2016 the House voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote. A floor amendment (2015-3030h) was adopted on a division vote 280–44 on January 7, 2016, changing the text of the bill. It crossed to the Senate on February 18, 2016 and was referred to the Senate Public and Municipal Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 16, 2016. The committee recommended that the Senate study it after the session ends. On March 31, 2016 the Senate adopted “Refer to Interim Study” on a voice vote.
