HB 1486 (2016)

relative to membership of the state house bicentennial commission.

  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 2015-2016
  • House committee: Legislative Administration
  • Senate committee: Rules, Enrolled Bills and Internal Affairs
  • Subject: Miscellaneous
  • Chapter law: 146

The Story

It was introduced on January 6, 2016 and referred to the House Legislative Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 11, 2016. The committee met in executive session on February 18, 2016 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 6–0, to recommend that the House pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On March 9, 2016 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 10, 2016 and was referred to the Senate Rules, Enrolled Bills and Internal Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 20, 2016. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2016-1654s). The committee's amendment (1654s) was adopted on a voice vote on May 5, 2016, changing the text of the bill. On May 5, 2016 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On May 11, 2016 the House adopted “House Concurs with Senate Amendment 1654s” on a voice vote, on a motion by Rep. Hinch. The bill was enrolled on May 19, 2016 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on May 27, 2016, making it Chapter 146 of the session laws.
