  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 2015-2016
  • House committee: Judiciary
  • Senate committee: Executive Departments and Administration
  • Subject: Right to Know
  • Chapter law: 30

The Story

It was introduced on January 6, 2016 and referred to the House Judiciary committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 28, 2016. The committee met in executive session on February 18, 2016 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 18–0, to recommend that the House pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On March 9, 2016 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 10, 2016 and was referred to the Senate Executive Departments and Administration committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 23, 2016. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On March 31, 2016 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. The bill was enrolled on April 20, 2016 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on April 25, 2016, making it Chapter 30 of the session laws.
