HB 1391 (2016)

relative to the price of bingo cards at senior bingo and bingo at private campgrounds and hotels.

  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 2015-2016
  • House committee: Ways and Means
  • Senate committee: Ways and Means
  • Subject: Gambling
  • Chapter law: 170

The Story

It was introduced on January 6, 2016 and referred to the House Ways and Means committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 21, 2016. The committee met in executive session on February 2, 2016 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 17–0, to recommend that the House pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On March 9, 2016 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 10, 2016 and was referred to the Senate Ways and Means committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 22, 2016. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2016-1380s). On April 21, 2016 the Senate adopted “Special Order HB 1391 to 04/28/2016, Without Objection”. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2016-1380s). The committee's amendment (1380s) was rejected on a voice vote on April 28, 2016. On April 28, 2016 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. An enrolled bill amendment (2016-1903e) was adopted on a voice vote on May 11, 2016. These correct technical errors found after passage. The bill was enrolled on May 19, 2016 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor — and an enrolled bill amendment (2016-1903e) was adopted on a voice vote to correct technical errors found after passage. The governor signed it on June 3, 2016, making it Chapter 170 of the session laws.
