repealing a provision of the harassment statute.
- Status: Signed into law
- Term: 2015-2016
- House committee: Criminal Justice and Public Safety
- Senate committee: Judiciary
- Subject: Crimes, Criminal Procedure and Corrections

The Story
It was introduced on January 6, 2016 and referred to the House Judiciary committee. The House withdrew that referral and sent the bill to the Criminal Justice and Public Safety committee instead. The committee held a public hearing on February 19, 2016. The committee met in executive session on March 1, 2016 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 17–0, to recommend that the House pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On March 9, 2016 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 17, 2016 and was referred to the Senate Judiciary committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 21, 2016. The committee voted unanimously, 5–0, to recommend that the Senate pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On May 5, 2016 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. The bill was enrolled on May 12, 2016 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on May 27, 2016, making it Chapter 136 of the session laws.
