  • Term: 2015-2016
  • House committee: Municipal and County Government
  • Senate committee: Public and Municipal Affairs

The Story

It was introduced on January 6, 2016 and referred to the House Municipal and County Government committee. The committee held a public hearing on February 2, 2016. The committee met in executive session on February 11, 2016 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 17–0, to recommend that the House pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On March 9, 2016 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 17, 2016 and was referred to the Senate Public and Municipal Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on April 6, 2016. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it. On April 21, 2016 the Senate voted to pass it on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. The bill was enrolled on May 11, 2016 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on May 19, 2016, making it Chapter 81 of the session laws.
