HB 1164 (2016)

relative to contributions by a city or town to the county or state.

  • Status: Signed into law
  • Term: 2015-2016
  • House committee: Municipal and County Government
  • Senate committee: Public and Municipal Affairs
  • Subject: Miscellaneous
  • Chapter law: 79

The Story

It was introduced on January 6, 2016 and referred to the House Municipal and County Government committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 26, 2016. The committee met in executive session on February 3, 2016 to vote on its recommendation. The committee voted unanimously, 15–0, to recommend that the House pass it, and the report was placed on the consent calendar. On March 9, 2016 the House voted to pass it on a voice vote. It crossed to the Senate on March 10, 2016 and was referred to the Senate Public and Municipal Affairs committee. The committee held a public hearing on March 23, 2016. The committee voted unanimously, 5–0, to recommend that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2016-1293s), and the report was placed on the consent calendar. The committee's amendment (1293s) was adopted on a voice vote on April 14, 2016, changing the text of the bill. On April 14, 2016 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a voice vote and ordered it to a third reading. On April 20, 2016 the House adopted “House Concurs with Senate Amendment 1293s” on a voice vote, on a motion by Rep. J. Belanger. The bill was enrolled on May 11, 2016 — the final check of the text before it goes to the governor. The governor signed it on May 19, 2016, making it Chapter 79 of the session laws.
