relating to legal actions. Providing that taxpayers have standing to bring actions against the government.
- Status: Died on the table
- Term: 2015-2016
- House committee: Judiciary
- Senate committee: Judiciary
- Subject: Constitutional Amendments
The Story
It was introduced on January 8, 2015 and referred to the Senate Judiciary committee. The committee held a public hearing on January 22, 2015. The committee recommended that the Senate pass it with changes (amendment 2015-0810s). The committee's amendment (0810s) was adopted on a voice vote on March 19, 2015, changing the text of the bill. On March 19, 2015 the Senate voted to pass it with changes on a roll call 24–0 and ordered it to a third reading. It crossed to the House and was referred to the House Judiciary committee. The committee held public hearings on May 12, 2015 and May 21, 2015. The committee retained the bill, holding it for further work rather than reporting it out this year. The committee held work sessions on August 8, 2015, September 8, 2015, September 15, 2015 and October 21, 2015. The committee met in executive session on October 27, 2015 to vote on its recommendation. The committee held work sessions on October 27, 2015, October 29, 2015 and November 10, 2015. The committee met in executive session on November 10, 2015 to vote on its recommendation. The majority recommended that the House kill it, and the minority recommended that the House pass it, by a vote of 16–2. The report was placed on the regular calendar. On January 7, 2016 the House voted to lay it on the table on a voice vote, on a motion by Rep. Hinch. The bill died on the table when the session ended on July 27, 2016, having been set aside and never taken back up.
